VEG Argentina is the first certification seal for vegan products in the country chosen by more than 308 consumer brands.
BUENOS AIRES, November 2, 2021.- VEG Argentina, a certification seal for vegan products created in 2019, reinforces its leadership in the Argentine market, by totaling more than 892 different products from more than 308 brands of mass consumption between alcoholic beverages and without alcohol, food, personal hygiene products, cosmetics and clothing.
In Argentina, the wine industry is one of the pioneers in the production and marketing of products with vegan certification granted by VEG Argentina. To date there are more than 60 wineries that already have this vegan seal, in addition to the growing interest in the food industry, personal hygiene products, cosmetics and clothing.
“As of September 2020 we had 15 companies under certification, for the same period this year, we reached 64 companies, a figure that shows a growth of 160% compared to the companies that certified in 2020. This increase tangibly shows the growing interest of brands , for diversifying its offer to that demanded by new consumers”, said Ana Cherasco, head of certification for VEG Argentina.
Consumption habits in Argentina and in the world are in transformation and consumers demand products that take care of the environment and that are aligned with health care and animal rights, establishing a new relationship of trust with brands. In this sense, the role of certification bodies is key, regardless of interests as a guarantee of compliance with production processes and standards, and allowing consumers to easily identify those products that do not contain ingredients of animal origin and/or derivatives. of animal (including additives and adjuvants).
The VEG Argentina seal was developed by LIAF Control, an Argentine company that provides inspection and certification services to producers in the agribusiness sector. The certificates issued by LIAF Control allow producers to sell their items in a differentiated manner in the domestic market and export them to the European Union, the United States, Brazil, the United Kingdom, and Mexico, among other countries.
In 2019, Liaf Control became the first certifier to design and implement a Certification Scheme for Vegan Products according to ISO 17030 Standard, Independent Third Party Conformity Marks, through which the patented VEG Argentina mark represents the first certification seal of vegan products in Argentina and identifies the vegan attribute of the certified product.
